IBEC promotes economic ties between Central Europe and Central Asia

On March 10-11, 2022, a meeting of the Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation of the Republics of Slovakia and Kazakhstan, organized by the Ministry of Economy of Slovakia and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan, was held in Bratislava. Representatives of the International Bank for Economic Co-operation, headed by Member of the Board – Head of the Business Unit – Peter Osvald have taken part in the work of the Commission via videoconference.

The central theme in the work of the Commission was trade and economic cooperation between the countries of Central Europe and Central Asia and new opportunities opening up in the process of transforming international economic relations. Both countries play important roles at the regional level, and the tasks they are facing reflect the common needs of the two regions in building new reliable economic ties, contributing to multi-vector foreign trade relations.

Since its relaunch IBEC has been actively developing its presence in Central Asia, providing financial support for business contacts of the clients from the Bank's member states. “IBEC, as a multilateral development institution, is interested in supporting initiatives and projects for interregional cooperation, both at the interstate and commercial levels,” – said Peter Osvald in his speech. As part of the work of the Commission, a series of presentations of perspective projects took place, a number of which have the potential for support from the IBEC in future.
