The Financial and Business Association of Euro-Asian Cooperation held the 7th annual forum "Greater Eurasia in Search of New Forms and Directions of Cooperation".The event was held with the support of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and the Eurasian Economic Commission. Taking into account the epidemiological situation, the forum was held in the videoconference mode, which, however, had its advantages – the participants could quickly "move" between the three industry panel discussions, without missing interesting topics and speakers.
Alexander Murychev, Chairman of the Board of the FBA EAC, noted that over the past years, the forum has become an important place for discussing topical issues of Eurasian cooperation, and an effective business platform for business representatives. The key theme of the current forum was the discussion of new forms of cooperation in the context of the global crisis, intensified by the pandemic, and the decline in the effectiveness of the usual institutional mechanisms at both the regional and global levels.
Denis Ivanov, Chairman of the IBEC Board, took part in the panel session “Monetary and financial support of cross-border partnership”. The discussion centered on the increased volatility of the monetary and financial sector, growing banking risks and, as a result, the need for new approaches and instruments to ensure international settlements and finance cross-border trade. The Chairman of the IBEC Board in his speech drew attention to the new opportunities that digital platforms provide for the security and efficiency of settlements, and the reasons that prevent the rapid spread of such technological solutions in the banking sector. Speaking about the international monetary system, Mr. Ivanov showed the growing role of the euro as a currency for international settlements and an investment instrument.
